RESEARCH & BACKGROUND

National Review of School Music Education In February 2004, then Federal Education Minister Dr Brendan Nelson invited submissions from interested parties to assist in a National Review of School Music Education. The purpose of the Review was described as "to investigate the current quality and status of music education in Australian primary and secondary schools. and to determine how both can be increased for the benefit of all students". By the closing date of 30 April, the Review Team from Murdoch University had received over 4,500 responses, with a significant number from parents, grandparents and others from school communities, indicating a lively personal interest in the issues from a family and community perspective. The Report was published in November 2005.
